18th annual garage sale benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society runs through Saturday

DeKALB – Mark Gregory of DeKalb is hosting his 18th annual garage sale through Saturday, with all proceeds benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The garage sale will be held until 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 24, at 117 E. Royal Drive in DeKalb.

The total amount he has raised through the years exceeds $150,000, with all proceeds going to the research of blood cancers. Since 2017, LLS has helped advance more than 85% of FDA-approved blood cancer treatment options, which have led to breakthrough treatments for other cancers and serious diseases.

At this year’s garage sale, Gregory has thousands of items for sale, including furniture, household items, collectibles, and more than 250 CDs, 100 DVDs and 1,000 books. The items are placed on 45 tables and shelves in Gregory’s front yard and two-car garage. He also set up four large tents, which shaded 800 square feet of the garage sale.

This year, it took Gregory and about 10 volunteers more than 40 hours to set up the garage sale.

Gregory receives donations from friends and community members throughout the year for the following year’s garage sale.

To donate, visit Gregory’s website, https://pages.lls.org/tnt/chi/yourway22/mgregory, or mail or drop off a check made payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to Mark Gregory, 117 E. Royal Drive, DeKalb, Illinois 60115. For more information about the garage sale and fundraising, call Gregory at 815-756-9469.
