4 ticketed in La Salle County on complaint of selling alcohol to a minor

The Illinois State Police conducted surveillance at 24 locations in Peru, La Salle, Ottawa and Utica, they found four establishments involved in the sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor, according to their report.

Casey’s General Store 1708 employee Jeffrey M. Vana, 43, of Ottawa; Beck Oil Company of Illinois employee Justice K. Trumbauer, 26, of Princeton; Pilot Travel Center LLC 644 employee John L. Gard, 59, of Oglesby; and Illinois Valley Food and Deli employee Hollis A. Lafferty, 60, of La Salle, were cited on a complaint of unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a Minor, a Class A misdemeanor. All four employees were released on a notice to appear in court.

Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 3 Agents conducted the Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement surveillance at various establishments during the evening hours of Wednesday, Sept. 1 in La Salle County. The purpose of these ACE details is to determine which businesses may be selling alcoholic beverages to minors (persons younger than 21 years of age).

The ISP commends establishments that do not sell alcohol to minors. This project was funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
