Arizona man sentenced to prison for sexually abusing child in Richmond

A 24-year-old Arizona man was sentenced to prison last week for sexually abusing a child who he is accused of traveling to Richmond to meet.

Mark Fields, of Tucson, was sentenced Thursday to 3 1/2 years in prison for a single count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Fields entered a blind guilty plea to the charge last month. In exchange, prosecutors dismissed additional charges, including indecent solicitation, solicitation to meet a child, and traveling to meet a minor.

According to court records, Fields and another adult traveled in June 2020, from Arizona to Richmond to meet the child.

The other person, 19-year-old Rhiannon Kennedy, who also goes by Vince, accepted a plea deal Tuesday and was sentenced to two years of conditional discharge for traveling to meet a minor. Kennedy, of Alaska, also must receive mental health treatment and sexual offender treatment as a condition of the sentence, court records show.

Before traveling to Illinois, Fields engaged in an online relationship with the minor and upon arriving, sexually abused the child at a motel, according to a news release from the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
