A body was recovered from the Des Plaines River on Friday morning.

Quintin Bass, 42, of Joliet was pronounced deceased on Friday at 12:40 p.m. in the 700 block of Railroad Street in Joliet, according to a statement released from the Will County Coroner’s office on Saturday afternoon.

An autopsy was performed Saturday. The preliminary autopsy report is drowning, according to the statement from the coroner’s office.

A boater spotted the body and alerted police, who responded to the area of North Bluff and West Jefferson streets about 11:30 a.m., according to a statement released by the Joliet Police Department Friday afternoon.

Officers saw a man in the “river that showed no signs of life along the west bank of the Des Plaines River,” police said.

“The unidentified individual was recovered from the river by the Joliet Fire Department,” police said. “The Will County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.”

There was no identification on the body, said Jeff Carey, deputy chief of the Joliet Fire Department.
