A body was spotted on the banks of the Des Plaines River Friday morning.
A boater spotted the body and alerted police, who responded to the area of North Bluff and West Jefferson streets shortly before 11:30 a.m., according to a statement released by the Joliet Police Department Friday afternoon.
“Officers arrived on the scene and observed what appeared to be an African American adult in the river that showed no signs of life along the west bank of the Des Plaines River,” police said. “The unidentified individual was recovered from the river by the Joliet Fire Department. The Will County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.”
