Briefs: Pistol Shrimp game postponed

The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp’s game Sunday against the Danville Dans scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Veterans Park in Peru was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game was postponed to 6 p.m. July 30 in Danville as the first game of a doubleheader.

On Saturday, the Shrimp lost 10-4 in six innings to the Lafayette Aviators in Lafayette, Ind.

The Aviators scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and led the rest of the way.

Lafayette scored three runs in the third, a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

The Shrimp scored two runs in the second on when Garry Maynard drew a bases loaded walk and Justin Rios had an RBI groundout.

Sam Link hit an RBI single in the fifth and Maynard added an RBI double in the sixth.

Jack Feely took the loss on the mound for Illinois Valley as he gave up six runs on six hits with two strikeouts and four walks in three innings.

The Pistol Shrimp (12-28) play host to the Burlington Bees at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday at Veterans Park in Peru.

Hole-in-one hit at Spring Creek

Rivers Jordan, of Ladd, hit a hole-in-one on July 8 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley.

He aced the 132-yard seventh hole using a gap wedge.

Tyler Orlandi, Luke Orlandi and Landen Plym witnessed the shot.
