Members of a Cary Park District program grew more than 2,600 pounds of food in 2021, which it donated to a local food pantry.
Members of the park district’s Hoffman Park Give Back Gardens grew 2,635 pounds in their garden this year, according to the park district. The 15-member group’s harvest was a new record for the group, which pushed its 10-year total to 14,000 pounds of food grown.
The group grows the food in six garden plots in Hoffman Park and donates all of it to the Cary-Grove Food Pantry.
The volunteers received assistance this year from a local Girl Scouts troop.
