DuPage County new COVID-19 cases dip below 100 on Monday, region’s positivity rate decreases to 4.2%

The DuPage County Health Department on Monday reported 88 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 3 deaths: 1 man in his 60s, 1 woman in her 70s and 1 man in his 70s.

The county now has seen a total of 70,638 coronavirus cases including 1,155 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Feb. 9 was 98.2%.

DuPage County has administered 131,562 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 34,483 people, or 3.71% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 14 consecutive days at or under 6.5%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.2%. Currently, 28% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 64 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 4.6% and DuPage County is at 3.9%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for 10 out of the last 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,420 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 41 additional deaths Monday, and a total of 1,823,208 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

Illinois has now seen 20,002 people die with COVID-19.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,791 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,695, Lombard 3,710, Villa Park 2,219, Hinsdale 1,155, Westmont 1,789, Darien 1,468, Woodridge 2,202, Downers Grove 3,375, Elmhurst 3,623, Warrenville 1,108 and Winfield 919. Addison has had 4,298 confirmed cases, Naperville 6,070, Carol Stream 3,786 and West Chicago 3,860.
