Family says body recovered Saturday is that Brandon Cuddy of Byron

BYRON – The body of Brandon Cuddy of Byron, missing since Dec. 26, was recovered Saturday at Oppold Marina in Sterling, his brother Billy Cuddy posted on his Facebook page today.

The post:

“As of yesterday, Brandon had been missing for 77 days. Yesterday we were informed that his body was recovered down the river away from crash site. The police are certain that it is him but we will have official confirmation on Monday.

“At this time, our family really appreciates all of the thoughts, prayers and support. However, we would appreciate some time to process this as a family.

“Lastly we again would like to thank everyone for the time, help, donations, prayers and any other support you may have provided. There is no real way to show our gratitude, but in the coming weeks we will continue to heal and show thanks.

“Any further updates will come through the local news outlets.

“Much thanks,

“The Cuddy Family”

Cuddy’s body was spotted around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Rock River on the eastern side of Oppold Marina in Sterling and recovered shortly before 7 p.m.
