First Montgomery Street Eats Fest coming to Mill Street bridge Saturday

The first ever Montgomery Street Eats Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 12, on the Mill Street Bridge in the village’s downtown. The event will feature 10 food trucks, a DJ and beer garden, all set along the Fox River.

The event is being put on by Brew Avenue Events in partnership with the Montgomery Foundation.

“The setting is perfect, the park adjacent to the event is shaded, the river makes a great backdrop, and it is going to look awesome having all the food trucks lining the bridge,” said Alessandro Vazquez, Brew Avenue Events owner.

Vazquez suggests eventgoers bring their own blankets and chairs so they can hang out in Montgomery Park along the river and enjoy the event after they grab food from one of the food trucks.

The food trucks will offer a variety of food, including as mini doughnuts, funnel cakes and ice cream for those looking for something sweet. Staple items such as grilled cheese from Cheesie’s, brick oven pizza from Bricks on Wheels, burgers and fries from Culinary Gangster, BBQ from Kissed by Fire BBQ and crowd-favorite the Happy Lobster food truck with its lobster rolls will be served.

Some vendors are bringing culturally influenced menus, such as Peruvian cuisine from Umbrella Azul, soul food from Big Mama’s Kitchen Chi and tacos and elote from La Humita on Wheels.

“Food truck events are perfect for this time where we are transitioning back to in-person events. They give friends and family the opportunity to try new things and do it at their level of comfort,” said Kristina Nemetz, communications manager for the village of Montgomery. “We are hoping this event gives the community something fun and safe to do as COVID restrictions lessen and some families head out for the first time in more than a year.”

Tickets are not required for the event, but those planning to attend are asked to register online in advance if able.

Ample parking will be available in the village’s downtown. Parking and admission are free. Food vendors and beer garden will be accepting credit card payments.

The food truck lineup is subject to change.
