Glen Ellyn Interfaith Prayer Service planned at Lake Ellyn

More than 20 faith communities in Glen Ellyn will be praying together at an outdoor service whose theme is “Hope Is Our Future.”

The Glen Ellyn Interfaith Prayer Service will be conducted Oct. 27 at Lake Ellyn, 645 Lenox Road in Glen Ellyn, a news release stated. Gathering will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the program from 8 to 9 a.m. The rain date is Nov. 3.

Admission is free to the open-air event. Seating will be available, and people are welcome to bring their own chairs. Free coffee will be provided by Blackberry Market.

The featured speaker will be the Rev. Dr. James Shannon, who previously served as executive director of the Regional Fair Housing Center in Chicago, before founding the Peoples Community Church in Glen Ellyn. He was baptized at age 12 by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
