MORRIS – The Grundy County Chamber of Commerce and Grundy Economic Development Council sent the following letter out to its members, urging them to contact state legislators in order to keep nuclear plants such as Dresden Generating Station in Morris operating.
Dear Members,
For over a year now, our organizations have been working with legislators and local taxing bodies to help Save Dresden. It is now crunch time with the legislative session ending May 31. Currently, the Climate Union Jobs Act is the only legislation that saves our nuclear fleet. Negotiations are still underway. Now we need to get across to the legislators that are still on the fence to only vote for a bill that saves the nuclear stations.
Below is a list of legislators we have identified as needing to hear this message, as well as the governor’s office. We are asking you to call the governor’s office and as many of the senators and representatives listed that you are able and willing before May 31. This list also contains talking points you can say to them and/or leave on their voicemails.
We have been grateful for all of your help so far and we ask you to please assist us again with this final push to save our plants, the more than 28,000 jobs the plants provide, and to preserve our quality of life in Grundy County.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Christina Van Yperen, Grundy Chamber, and Nancy Norton, GEDC
