Hampshire’s Jake Brosman named Chicago Bears High School Coach of the Week

Hampshire’s football team made news on Friday with a 15-7 overtime victory over Huntley that put the Whip-Purs into the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Hampshire coach Jake Brosman received some other news Thursday when he was announced as winner of the Chicago Bears High School Coach of the Week.

Joliet Catholic running back Jordan Anderson was selected as the Chicago Bears High School All-Star.

Brosman, in his fourth season as Whips coach, came to Hampshire before the 2018 season from Dunlap, a downstate football powerhouse.

The Whips endured some tough seasons that stretched into Brosman’s tenure and lost 24 consecutive games. Since Week 8 of the 2019 season, Hampshire is 11-3.

The Bears will make a $2,000 donation to the Hampshire football program. Brosman will be recognized along with the other Coach of the Week winners, the High School All-Star winners and representatives of the eight state championship winners at the Bears game against Minnesota on Monday, Dec. 20 at 7:15 p.m.

Hampshire (5-2, 5-2 Fox Valley Conference) meets Jacobs (4-3, 4-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in a Fox Valley Conference game.
