Just over 120 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County Tuesday for third consecutive day

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 125 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 70s. There were 124 cases reported Monday, and 123 cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 56,765 total cases of the virus and 760 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 97 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.6%. Currently, 23% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average stayed flat at 7.1% and DuPage County’s decreased to 4.9%.

Hospitalizations increased seven out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,556 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 23 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 62,724 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.5%.

Illinois now has seen 1,325,726 total cases of the virus, and 21,858 people have died.
