Kifowit hosting recycle, shred day event Saturday

Continuing her efforts to bring resources into the community to protect residents, state Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, is hosting a Community Recycle and Shred Day event on Saturday, July 24 from 9 a.m. until noon at her constituent service office located at 1677 Montgomery Road in Aurora.

“This event provides residents with the opportunity to shred documents with their confidential or identifiable information so we can be better protected from identity theft,” said Kifowit. “We will also be offering electronic recycling, a safe drop-off spot for unused prescription drugs, and collecting old cell phones, eyeglasses and gently used books.”

Kifowit is partnering with the KCT Credit Union and will be doing on-site document shredding as well as accepting computer towers, microwaves, DVD players, VCRs, video game consoles and fax machines. They will not be accepting TVs or computer monitors. At the event, residents will also have the opportunity to drop off unused prescription drugs and over-the-counter medications. Kifowit asks that residents place all medications in a clear plastic bag before turning them in. Kifowit will also be collecting cell phones to benefit the Mutual Ground domestic violence and sexual assault services and collecting eyeglasses and gently used books for repurposing.
