La Salle council approves $3,700 redevelopment grant for former Sib’s building

The former Sib’s building in La Salle is getting a boost.

During Monday’s La Salle City Council meeting, the council approved its latest Redevelopment Incentive Program Grant to Garrett Mecagni for the building located at 854 First St.

This downtown area project was approved for $3,700. The funds will be used to tuckpoint the building, repair the back wall, clean window stone seals and replace about 100 deteriorated bricks.

The owner originally asked the city for $12,500 to include painting the building as well, but later elected to remove that portion from the request.

This approval is the latest in the city’s efforts to restore the downtown area with new and redeveloped buildings.
