Letter: Always room for improvement

To the Editor:

I’m Diane Selmer. Four years ago, I was honored to be elected to represent you. At that time, I committed that I would work to lower property taxes and bring transparency to Oswego Township government. I’m happy to report that I accomplished those goals, but there is always room for improvement.

Along with Supervisor Brian LeClercq and fellow trustees, we were able to reduce the township levy 2%; roll back and lower all incoming elected officials’ salaries to 2016 levels; remove taxpayer-paid medical from the part-time elected officials; enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the village of Oswego, SD308, etc., for cost savings for Oswego Township taxpayers; and implement policies and procedures for greater efficiency and effectiveness. I took charge of implementing a more interactive and transparent website, oswegotownship.org. It took me a few months, but our Oswego Township website has been recognized as one of the most transparent in the state.

If you think that our township government should continue in this direction, I humbly ask for your vote April 6.

Diane Selmer
