Local Digest: Illinois Irish travel softball keep rolling

In recent action, the Illinois Irish 14U and Illinois Irish 12U softball teams competed at the Queen of the Circle Tournament in Streator at the James Street Recreation Area

The Irish 14U won the tournament title defeating the Mokena Blast by a score of 9-1. In the tournament the Irish went 4-0 overall to win the title. The Irish 14U team consists of: Destiny Barton, Rayelle Brennan, Ella Derossett, Hailey Larsen, Alyssa Zellers, Sam Vandevelde, Ella Sterling, Olivia Chismarick, Avery Durdan, Camryn Stecken, Makayla Backos and Tessa Krull.

The Irish 12U lost to the Metamora Flames 7-0 in the title game, earning the second-place trophy. The Irish 12U finished 4-1 in the tournament. The Irish 12U, with an overall record of 29-20, consists of: Graysen Provance, Emma Mino, Lily Soliman, Addi Johnson, Morgan Starwalt, Lexi Buis, Aurora Weber, Katie Rzasa, Jo Male, Tessa Cryder, Kaylee Klinker and Hayden Pfeifer.

The Illinois Irish 14U also brought home the Lake of the Ozarks Father’s Day Invitational Tournament Championship. The Irish went a perfect 6-0 defeating teams from Arkansas and Missouri to win the title at the new Ballparks National All Turf Complex in the Lake of the Ozarks. This brings the 14U Irish season record to 83-7-1 on the year.
