LOCAL ROUNDUP: Erie-Prophetstown wins volleyball opener in three sets

Erie-Prophetstown opened the new volleyball season with a 25-12, 23-25, 25-16 win over Kewanee in Prophetstown on Saturday.

Ady Scott had 10 kills and eight digs for the Panthers. Emily Brooks had eight kills. Ella Heyvaert and Lauren Neumiller each had five kills. Kennedy Buck had 29 assists. Emma Davis had four assists, 14 digs and seven aces. Baylee Anderson had 10 digs and four aces.

East Dubuque def. Polo 26-28, 25-19, 25-21: Three tight sets were needed, but the Marcos could not close things out after taking the opening set in the NUIC loss to East Dubuque.

Nicole Boelens had 13 assists, 11 digs, nine kills and an ace for Polo. Becca Wagner and Marah Blake each had eight kills. Wagner also had five digs. Emileigh Williams had five kills, two digs and two blocks.

BOYS SOCCER

Indian Creek 2, Oregon 1: The Hawks dropped a nonconference game.

Leo Cardenas scored in the second half for Oregon. Owen Ketter made 18 saves in net.
