McHenry County College renovates, expands store

The McHenry County College Store has gotten a face-lift with more shopping spaces and new fitting rooms.

The renovations were completed during summer 2020, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the renovated store has been closed temporarily, limited primarily to online and pickup orders, according to a news release.

The college celebrated the store’s reopening and renovations late last month, according to the release. The renovations include a new, open entrance and modernized display window, an expanded shopping space and offices and the addition of fitting rooms.

“The MCC Store is excited to once again open our doors to students, community members, and our employees,” MCC Store Director Alma Wilhelm said in the release. “Beyond course materials such as books and supplies, the store has a variety of fresh new apparel and other merchandise to be a one-stop shop for both students and staff.”

Through Aug. 20, the store is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14 and 21, according to its website.

Starting Aug. 23, the store will resume its standard fall hours: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.

The MCC Store is located in Room B162 at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake. Orders also can be placed online at mccbookstore.mchenry.edu.
