As positive cases of COVID-19 and related hospitalizations continue downward, Mercyhealth will allow more visitors at all of its hospitals and clinics, starting Monday, the hospital system said in a news release.
The hospital system, which is based in Janesville, Wisconsin, and has a hospital in Harvard, will allow one visitor a day, pending approval, for certain patients not in its COVID-19 units, according to a news release.
“As circumstances change, Mercyhealth will continue to modify guidelines,” the hospital system said in the release.
Those patients include adult inpatients, adult outpatients undergoing surgery or other procedures, those in the emergency department and women in labor or recovering. Patients at Mercyhealth clinics may also bring one visitor with them.
Exceptions may be made during special circumstances, including end of life, according to the release.
Pediatric and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients will be allowed two visitors per day, according to the release.
Visitor restrictions remain in place for COVID-19 patients. Arrangements, after approval from the care team, will be made individually for each patient.
Mercyhealth’s regular visiting hour schedule is also resuming with visitors allowed 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week, according to the release.
All visitors must be at least 18 years old; screen negative for fever and be asymptomatic of flu-like and other respiratory-related symptoms; wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing; wash hands when entering and leaving rooms; and leave directly after visiting the patient room. Visitors may be asked to leave if guidelines are not followed, the system said in the release.
