More than 150 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County Friday

Illinois public officials on Friday reported 151 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a woman in her 50s. There were 153 new cases reported Thursday.

Kane County has now seen 56,259 total cases of the virus and 757 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 93 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.8%. Currently, 23% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average decreased to 7.4%, and DuPage County’s decreased to 5.0%.

Hospitalizations have increased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,369 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 22 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 104,795 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.6%.

Illinois now has seen 1,316,091 total cases of the virus, and 21,777 people have died.

Several municipalities in Kane County share the same zip code.
