New bike rake in Crystal Lake’s McCormick Park donated by Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers installed a bike rack in McCormick Park off Route 14, part of the group’s new environmental focus.

The club hosted a ribbon-cutting with the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce to bring awareness to the new feature for bike riders, according to a news release.

Greg Alexander, Rotary Charity Fund President led the bike rack installation project and said as an avid cyclist, he appreciates having bike racks at popular locations around the city.

In addition to approving the permit, the city of Crystal Lake approved the permit excavated the bike rack site and donated pavers, according to the release. Associated Electrical Contractors donated time and material for the concrete layer, and Unity Landscaping donated labor to install the pavers.

The funds for the project were from a Rotary International grant meant to improve awareness of Rotary in locally.
