New COVID-19 cases continue to fall in Kane County Tuesday

Illinois public officials on Tuesday reported 86 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths. Today’s case count is a decrease from the 96 new cases reported Monday.

Kane County has now seen 48,425 total cases of the virus and 678 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two consecutive days at or under 6.5%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 6.4%. Currently, 27% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 51 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 7.6% and DuPage County is at 5.7%.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,304 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 47 additional deaths Tuesday. The IDPH received the results of 60,899 tests leading up to Tuesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 3.9%.

Illinois now has seen 1,130,917 total cases of the virus, and 19,306 people have died.

Several municipalities in Kane County share the same zip code.
