No injuries in St. Charles garage fire Sunday afternoon

ST. CHARLES – No injuries were reported after a garage fire Sunday afternoon in St. Charles.

According to a news release from the St. Charles Fire Department, firefighters arrived at 3038 Pleasant Plains Dr. just after 1 p.m. for a report of a fire in an attached garage. Light smoke was coming from the partially opened garage door, and the fire was brought under control in seven minutes, the release stated.

The home was checked for fire and once the structure was cleared of smoke, the residents were able to return, the release stated.

The fire loss is estimated at approximately $1,000 to contents and $14,000 to a vehicle, and the home is still habitable.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Geneva, Batavia, Elburn and South Elgin Fire Departments. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
