One death, 130 COVID-19 cases reported Monday in Kane County

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 130 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a woman in her 90s. There were 196 cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 54,635 total cases of the virus and 749 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 82 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate remained flat at 7.3%. Currently, 26% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average stayed flat at 7.8% and DuPage County’s decreased to 7.0%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,433 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 18 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 53,115 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.4%.

Illinois now has seen 1,282,205 total cases of the virus, and 21,523 people have died.

Several municipalities in Kane County share the same zip code.
