Oswego police arrest two on firearms possession charges

Oswego police arrested two men at 1:25 a.m. Feb. 20 at a gas station convenience store in the 1800 block of Route 30.

In a statement, police identified the suspects as Jason W. Merritt, 34, of the 800 block of Kimberly Drive, DeKalb, and Quincy A. Covington, 29, of the 30th block of Waterbury Circle, Oswego.

Both suspects were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, police said.

Police said Merrill was detained at the Kendall County Jail in Yorkville pending court proceedings. Information on Covington’s custody status was not available.
