Rock Falls High School October Student of the Month: Mallory Pinske

Mallory Pinske, 17, of Rock Falls, is Rock Falls High School’s October Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Kevin and Mandy Pinske and has a sister, Savannah.

Favorite class: Physics, because it is interesting and we get to do fun activities.

Least-favorite class: Statistics, because there are too many parts to each question.

Favorite teacher: I have a good relationship with a majority of my teachers, so it’s hard to name a favorite.

School activities in which you participate: I participate in volleyball, basketball, track, Student Council, Junior Optimists, Building Lasting Impressions That Never Die), class officers, and National Honor Society.

Civic, church, or other volunteer activities in which you participate: I volunteer with Junior Optimist activities.

What will you do after high school? I plan to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to play volleyball and major in business.

What is something you learned in high school that you think you’ll never use? In world history I learned things that I have definitely already forgotten, so I won’t be able to use that information after high school (or even now).

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? I know it’s due to COVID, but if I could I would bring back soup and chili, because that was my favorite part of lunch.

If you could create any new class at your school, what would it be? I would create a college accounting class so people who were interested in that major could get a head start or see if that is something they would be interested in.

What does it take to be a successful high school student? You need to have good time management and want to put in the work. It helps to be involved in as much as you can.

How would you describe your group of friends? I think my friends are very fun and energetic, and we all know how to make each other laugh and have a good time.

Who is your best friend? I have many close friends, but my best friend is my sister Savannah because she has always been my biggest supporter in everything that I do, and I can count on her for anything.

What do you do in your free time? In my free time, I like hanging out with my friends and being active. I also enjoy watching movies and reading.

What kind of music are you listening to? I listen to all kinds of music, but I especially listen to a lot of alternative music.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? I would travel to Europe because they have a lot of interesting countries, and I was supposed to travel there last year but was not able to.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Many of my favorite childhood memories came from camping with family and friends.

What is the best way to cheer you up? Ice cream and a good movie.

What is your life’s philosophy? Make the most of everything that you do.

Do you have any pets? I have a cat named Bell and two goldfish that I have had since grade school.

What would you do if you received $1 billion dollars all of a sudden? I would buy a private jet so I could travel wherever I want, whenever I want.
