A Sauk Village man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Plainfield, police said.

About 3:30 p.m. Friday, officers and emergency crews responded to Ridge Road just south of Plainfield Road for a crash involving a Toyota RAV4 and a GMC Sierra pickup truck, according to a statement issued Saturday afternoon by the Plainfield Police Department.

The driver of the Toyota was killed and the driver of the GMC was transported to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

Police identified Rolando Castro, 20, of the 21600 block of Clyde Avenue as the driver of the Toyota.

The crash remains under investigation.

Preliminary information provided by a witness indicated the Toyota was traveling north on Ridge Road when it entered the southbound lane and struck the GMC, police said.

The roadway where the crash occurred remained closed for several hours during the ensuing investigation, police said.
