A free senior health fair designed to show seniors what kind of state and local services are available to them is planned for Friday.
Scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, “this free outreach event provides seniors with a tremendous opportunity to learn what state and local services are available to them,” said state Sen. Dan McConchie, R-Hawthorn Woods, who is hosting the fair along with state Sens. Donald DeWitte, R-St.Charles and Craig Wilcox, R-McHenry.
“With health and safety measures in place, I encourage all seniors and their families to stop by this two-hour event and take advantage of free health screenings and flu shots,” McConchie said in a statement.
Attendees should enter McHenry County College’s campus from the Route 14 entrance and park in Lot D, according to a news release. People should enter through the main doors for Building B. The fair will be in room B8900.
”We expect this event to be well-attended, as we will have several not-for-profit organizations, businesses and medical professionals on hand that focus on improving the lives of senior citizens,” DeWitte said.
COVID-19 precautions from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health will be in place, according to the release. Masks will be required for entry, vendor tables will be 6 feet apart and hand-sanitizing stations will be available throughout the vendor area.
“After having to cancel face-to-face events last year, I think this senior fair will draw a large crowd,” Wilcox said. “I hope seniors and their caregivers take advantage of the information and resources that will be available.”
