Summer Solstice festival brings live music back to downtown Yorkville

The sounds of live music returned to downtown Yorkville Friday evening as the annual Summer Solstice Indie Music Festival opened for a two-day run.

The popular festival features up-and-coming musicians and craft beers. Event sponsors are The Law Office, Rogue Barrister Productions and The United City of Yorkville.

Due to rains earlier in the day Friday, event organizers picked up the tents near the Fox River and moved Summer Solstice to the alley space behind The Law Office. Artists performed both inside the Van Emmon Street venue, and on a second-story outdoor balcony.

Artists for the 2021 festival include Olivia Ports, John Till, John Condron, David Quinn, Alex Williams, the Vandoliers, Screeching Halts, Yard Eagle, Tim Gleason, Nikki Morgan, Jake Stringer, the Craig Brown Band, Okey Dokey, Desert Noises and Airpark. A Spotify playlist has been created to give listeners a glimpse of this year’s acts.

Organizers have partnered with Yorkville’s Flight Tasting Room & Bottle Shop to curate a list of craft beer releases for this year’s Solstice, including Toppling Goliath, More, Riverlands, Buckle Down, Goose Island, Hop Butcher, Pollyanna, Oswego Brewing Company and Maplewood. Releases will be dropped at various times throughout the two-day fest.
