Three vehicles reportedly stolen from Brian Bemis dealership, Sycamore police seek public’s help

SYCAMORE – Three vehicles were reportedly stolen at the Brian Bemis dealership in Sycamore after a burglary, said police Friday.

According to a news release from the Sycamore Police Department, police responded to the incident around 4:45 a.m. Friday morning at the Sycamore dealership at 1825 DeKalb Ave for a report of people possibly stealing cars. The dealership is also known as Sycamore Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Volvo Cars of Sycamore.

An investigation discovered that three vehicles were allegedly stolen from the dealership: a white 2021 Dodge Durango, a red 2021 Dodge Challenger and a white 2020 Dodge Challenger, police said.

Upon arrival officers were told by a delivery driver he had seen several people going through vehicles, then leaving the lot in multiple cars, and had discovered a window broken out.

Further investigation revealed the suspects had forced entry into the building and had stolen three vehicles from the showroom, after crashing another vehicle through the showroom glass.

No arrests were reported at this time in connection to the theft and burglary, though Sycamore police are seeking the public’s help. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sycamore Police at 815-895-2123.

In an unrelated public service announcement earlier this week, DeKalb police warned the public to remain vigilant as summer months often bring with them an uptick in vehicle burglaries or motor vehicle theft.

The department recommends the following vehicle burglary prevention tips:

  • Lock your car, even in your driveway.
  • Do not leave your electronic devices, wallets, purses, cash, or keys visible from outside your vehicle.
  • Do not leave vehicles unattended if the keys are inside.
  • Keep outside lights on after dark.
  • If you see something, say something.
