Troy 6th, 7th and 8th-graders recognized for effort, citizenship, positive attitude and class participation

The Shorewood Lions Club recently honored students at William B. Orenic Intermediate School and Troy Middle School.

The Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C school board recognized these April Students of the Month at its district board meeting in May.

Selections were based on “consistent effort, productive citizenship, positive attitudeand participation in class,” according to a news release from the school district.

The William B. Orenic Intermediate School sixth grade Students of the Month are Yasiaya Alexander, Julissa Verdin, Claire Wellman and Bailey Williams.

The Troy Middle School seventh grade Students ofthe Month are Chloe Brouwer, Mike Lara, PaytonPalesh and Keven Robles.

The Troy Middle School eighth grade Students of the Month are Leandro Magat, Brynn Pitcairn, Jillian Pranckusand Hannah Williams.

About the Shorewood Lions Club

The Shorewood Lions Club helps needy persons in Troy Township who have sight or hearing problems.

The club helps them obtain get glasses, hearing aids and seeing eye dogs. Club members also help children who are sight- or hearing-impaired sign up for Camp Lions in the summer.

Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C was founded 1949. It serves students in Pre-K through grade eight in Shorewood, Channahon, Crest Hill and unincorporated Troy Township.

The district has five elementary schools, one intermediate school and one middle school.
