Two people face drug charges after traffic stop

FOX LAKE — A traffic stop for speeding March 22 in Fox Lake resulted in drug charges against a man from Chicago and a woman from North Chicago, police said.

On, March 22, members of the Fox Lake Police department conducted a traffic stop for speeding. During the traffic stop, officers detected a strong odor of fresh marijuana, police said in a news release.

During a search of the vehicle, about 400 grams of cannabis were seized. The cannabis was individually packaged, in smaller amounts, in commercially available packaging designed to look like the seized cannabis may have been purchased at a cannabis dispensary, police said. Additionally, $2,875.87 cash was also seized.

Anthony Deshazor, 31, 10000 block of May Street, Chicago, was charged with manufacturing and delivery of cannabis and possession of cannabis less than 500 grams.

Maribel Gonzalez, 28, 1000 block of Elizabeth, North Chicago, was charged with speeding, operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, driving while license revoked, manufacturing and delivery of cannabi, and possession of cannabis less than 500 grams.

On March 23, Deshazor and Gonzalez appeared in a Lake County Video Bond Court. Bond was set at $20,000. Deshazor and Gonzalez were being held at the Lake County Jail.
