Whiteside County career center annual CEO trade show next month

STERLING – Students enrolled in the Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities program at Whiteside Area Career Center will showcase their businesses and sell their products from 4:40 to 7:30 p.m. April 28 and from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 29 at Northland Mall, 2900 E. Lincolnway.

This 1-year course is offered juniors and seniors interested in owning and operating operate their own businesses. The annual trade show is the culmination of their work.

Concepts such as supply and demand, cost/benefit analysis, competitive advantages, and opportunity recognition are covered. Coursework includes innovative thinking strategies, product development, business structure, marketing, financial strategies, record keeping, and preparing an income statement, balance sheet, income and cash flow statements. Entrepreneurial thinking (out-of-the box problem solving) is utilized throughout the course.

The course takes place at area businesses, and includes tours of local industry and guest speakers from all areas of business.
