La Salle Public Library patrons have a chance to win gift cards and a grand prize of a Kindle Fire if they participate in bingo challenges.
Through Aug. 6, the library will host the ReDiscover Your Library Summer Challenge for adults and young adults. Participants can choose from a variety of challenges featured on a bingo card to complete a column of four squares, a row of five squares or four corners. Fulfilling any of these bingos enters the participant for the grand prize drawing. Weekly challenge prizes such as SHOP La Salle and Amazon gift cards also will be awarded.
To participate, visit the adult service desk to request a summer challenge form. The form provides detailed descriptions of each challenges – for example, “Who’s Your Favorite Who,” in which patrons explore the library’s adult and young adult biographies and autobiographies. The form also includes the bingo challenge card for checking off completed challenges.
Simultaneously, the Discover Your Library Youth Summer Program will be open to children through Aug. 6. Youths can select and complete up to five challenges to enter their names for a chance to win a Kindle Fire. Children can win additional prizes by completing challenges. To participate, stop at the children’s desk to pick-up a Youth Booklet. The booklet provides detailed descriptions of the challenges and how to complete them – for example, using Open eBooks, which is a new free service that provides youths access to thousands of e-books.
The four-week programs are free and open to residents of all ages from any community.
Each Thursday during the challenges, youths can visit the library to choose a Mini Delight – an assortment of trinkets, toys and games. Grab & Go craft kits also will be available each Wednesday, while supplies last.
Winner(s) of the Kindle Fire drawing will be announced on the library’s Facebook page on Monday, Aug. 9. For information, call 815-223-2341.
