Zonta members collect goods for survivors of domestic violence

The Ottawa Zonta Club commemorated October’s domestic violence awareness month by collecting goods for local survivors of domestic violence.

Handy Foods and Dollar General customers donated hundreds of paper products, cleaning supplies and other household necessities along with hundreds of dollars in monetary donations. These donations go to help people, mainly women, get a new start as they leave an abusive household.

If you or someone you know needs help, call the local domestic violence hotline, Safe Journeys, at 815-672-2353.

Zonta International is an organization that envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. This includes women having access to all resources and representation in decision making positions on an equal basis with men, as well as a world where no woman lives in fear of violence.
