Illinois announces 2,126 new cases of COVID-19, 59 deaths

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker announced 2,126 new cases of COVID-19 and 59 new deaths on Sunday.

The state received results from 13,335 tests between Saturday and Sunday, the third consecutive day receiving more than 10,000 test results.

Of the newly reported deaths, 45 occurred in Cook County. Five people died in DuPage, three died in Jefferson and Lake counties, two died in Will and one died in Kane County.

Illinois has now seen a total of 43,903 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,933 deaths. The state has tested 214,952 people.

As of the end of the day Saturday, a total of 4,595 people in Illinois are in the hospital with COVID-19, or presumed to have the virus. Of that, 1,267 are in the ICU and 772 are on ventilators.

As of Sunday, Chicago has seen 17,865 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook County has seen 12,709.

Lake County has seen 2,990 confirmed cases, DuPage 2,443, Will 2,126, Kane 1,109, McHenry 513, Kendall 208, Ogle 87, DeKalb 71, Whiteside 62, La Salle 44, Grundy 30, Lee 19, Bureau 10 and Carroll nine.
