2 residents displaced after apartment fire in 800 block of Greenbrier Road in DeKalb Wednesday

DeKALB – A fire in an apartment complex in the 800 block of Greenbrier Road in DeKalb Wednesday afternoon displaced two people.

Mike Thomas, battalion chief for the DeKalb Fire Department, said crews responded to calls for a possible structure fire around 1 p.m. Wednesday. No smoke or flames were visible around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday.

“It was a small fire that was quickly under control,” Thomas said.

Fire investigators are still determining what caused the fire in the two-story apartment complex, and warned residents to avoid the area on the DeKalb Fire Department’s social media.

The building was not evaucated, however, as the fire was deemed under control shortly after the call went out.
