The DeKalb County Health Department reported 42 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, reporting information from the past three days.
One of the new cases was in a staff member at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion, the 21st staff member to contract the disease at the facility along with 35 residents. After four straight days of reporting a death last week, no new deaths were reported Monday.
The new cases continued a trend of residents under 30 testing for COVID-19. According to county data, 32.6% of the reported cases in the county are in residents under 30. There were eight new cases each in patients under 20 and in their 20s reported Monday, along with six in their 30s, nine in their 40s, three in their 50s, five in their 60s, two in their 70s and one over 80.
In all there are 95 cases in residents under 20, 222 in their 20s, 146 in their 30s, 122 in their 40s, 109 in their 50s, 66 in their 60s, 56 in their 70s and 62 over 80.
According to county data, the city of DeKalb reports between 421 and 425 cases (up 20 cases from Friday). There are 111 to 115 cases in Sycamore; 116 to 120 in Sandwich; 81 to 85 cases in Genoa; 46 to 50 cases in Cortland; 11 to 15 in Kirkland, Somonauk, Kingston, Malta and Hinckley; and six to 10 cases in Waterman. Esmond, Earlville, Shabbona and Maple Park each report one to five cases.
The IDPH lists cases and tests performed by ZIP code, while the county health department lists cases by municipality. Numbers vary from state and health departments because of data lags.
The 60115 ZIP code (including DeKalb) had 402 cases reported and 6,170 tests administered. The 60178 ZIP code (including Sycamore) had 127 cases and 2,553 tests. The 60548 ZIP code (including Sandwich) had 2,583 tests and 166 cases. The 60112 ZIP code (including Cortland) had 44 cases and 567 tests. The 60135 ZIP code (including Genoa) had 77 cases and 926 tests, the 60145 ZIP code (including Kingston) had 13 cases and 233 tests and the 60146 ZIP code (including Kirkland) had 16 cases and 313 tests.
In total, IDPH reported 181,943 people in Illinois have tested positive for COVID-19, while 7,517 people have died statewide. As of Monday, 2,778,322 tests have been performed. The site also lists statewide recovery rates, calculated by recovered cases divided by the sum of recovered cases and dead cases. The statewide recovery remained at 95%.
