50th annual Toys for Tots Country Music Show Sunday in DeKalb

DeKALB – Musician Gary Mullis will host his annual charity concert benefiting Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army on Sunday, and is inviting the community to attend at the admission price of just one toy for children in need. This is the 50th year of the event.

The event, set for 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Taylor Street Plaza High Rise Community Room, 507 E. Taylor St., DeKalb, will feature a cake-cutting event and live bands playing country music, bluegrass, gospel, Christmas songs and more, according to a news release.

Concert-goers should present one new toy at the entrance and enter the high rise through door No. 2 on the west side of the building.

The 50th anniversary also will be commemorated with a special cake cutting at 3 p.m., according to the release.

Mullis started the annual charity concert 50 years ago at Cortland Town Hall, and thought it would be nice and festive to share his love of music and community, and honor friends who have passed each year, according to the release.

For information or to contact Mullis, call 815-762-5589.
