At the Reed-Custer Indoor Invitational on Saturday, Seneca’s girls track and field team dominated the field with 186.33 team points for the victory, with Morris (91.83) second, Sandwich (58) third and Streator (0.5) ninth.
The Irish won 11 events, with champions including: Anna Bruno (27.93 seconds in the 200 meters; 5.20 meters in the long jump), Clara Bruno (1:05.81 in the 400), Evelyn O’Connor (2:39.41 in the 800), Ashley Alsvig (5:48.8 in the 1600), Caitlyn O’Boyle (10.18 seconds in the 60 hurdles; 9.83 meters in the triple jump), the 4×200 relay team of Anna Bruno, O’Boyle, Faith Deering and Taylor Draves (1:52.61), the 4×400 team of Emma Smith, Keeli Pumphrey, Clara Bruno and O’Connor (4:35.91), the 4×800 team of Alsvig, O’Connor, Gracie Steffes and Clara Bruno (10:51.45) and Teagan Johnson (3.15 in the pole vault).
Sandwich’s Claire Allen (11.66 meters, shot put) also won an event.
Sandwich (105 points) was second to Prairie Central (109) in the boys team standings, with Seneca (31) placing fifth.
Winners for Sandwich were the 4×800 relay team of Max Cryer, Wyatt Miller, Dayton Beatty and Johnny Rizzuto (9:20.37), the 4×400 made up of Beatty, Miller, Dylan Young and Rizzuto (3:50.07) and individually, Miller (2:14.89, 800).
Seneca’s lone win came in the 4×200 relay with David Bergeson, Sam Churchill, John Farcus and Colton Pumphrey (1:43.51).
Bulldogs tie for 7th at St. Ambrose: At the St. Ambrose High School Classic, the Streator Bulldogs ran their way to a tie for seventh in the field of 17.
Aneefy Ford had an individual event victory (23.84, 200-meter dash) and added a runner-up run (7.21, 60-meter dash) to lead Streator.
Kody Danko (2:02.93, 800 run; 4:45.15, 1600) recorded a pair of runner-up finishes for the Bulldogs.
