SYCAMORE – A fire at a Sycamore barn Monday is estimated to have caused $400 in damage but did not result in any injuries.
At 8:43 p.m. Monday the Sycamore Fire Department arrived at the 26000 block of Darnell Road to a barn fire that was mostly put out, Fire Chief Pete Polarek said. The roof caught on fire from a nearby burn pile, Polarek said.
“The damage was not exceptionally high,” Polarek said. “It was probably a 3-by-3-foot area that was damaged toward the peek of the roof.”
No charges have been filed as the fire has been ruled an accident, Polarek said.
Fire protection crews remained on the scene for about an hour.
No firefighters or residents were injured as a result of the fire.
Fire departments in Genoa and Cortland also responded to the general alarm.
