Batavia police resolve hoax 911 call of persons shot

BATAVIA – A prank call to 911 that people had been shot at a house in the 600 block of Hart Road resulted in two Batavia schools being put on soft lockdown just before 1 p.m. today, police announced in a news release.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and determined there were no persons injured and the call was determined to be a hoax.

In addition, police were in the process of notifying other area residents and a church/school to advise of the situation and the request to shelter in place. The situation as reported was not real and therefore resolved within minutes of officers arriving on scene, the release stated.

This incident remains an open investigation as police try to determine the source of the call.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Batavia Police Department at 630-454-2500.
