A 15 year-old Bureau Valley student died following an altercation with another student, police said.
Bureau County Sheriff James Reed in a news release said at about 12:46 p.m. Saturday deputies responded to the area of South King Street and East Front Street in Wyanet for a reported altercation between two 15 year-old boys, both from Wyanet.
Wyanet ambulance arrived on the scene and transported one of the students to St. Clare Hospital in Princeton. He was later flown by Life Flight to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he died following from his injuries Sunday.
Princeton EMS also assisted on the call. The name of the boy has not yet been released pending notification of his family. The incident is under investigation by the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office and Peoria County Coroner’s Office.
