SYCAMORE – The Sycamore City Council appointed three new committee members Monday night, one of them replacing a seat held by former Sycamore Mayor Ken Mundy.
David Stouffer had served on the Architectural Review Committee and since has resigned from to serve in Mundy’s place as a member of Sycamore’s Fire and Police Commission. Ron Cerutti will take Stouffer’s place as member on the Architectural Review Committee.
Eamon Verdone was appointed to the Sycamore Library Board after Omar Ordaz resigned as a member of the Sycamore Library Board.
Brian Gregory said he made a point to let people know Sycamore residents can contact Mayor Curt Lang if they are interested serving on any of the city committees.
“Even when there’s not an opening on a certain committee,” Gregory said. “The mayor keeps a list of those that are interested. They can contact the mayor’s office directly if someone’s interested in serving either now or at some point in the future.”
Gregory said the positions are for those who are willing to serve and on a volunteer basis.
He said the mayor reviews the openings and then matches different skill sets with board and committee needs as they arise.
“We encourage people who are interested to do that,” Gregory said.
Gregory said the next Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will be canceled because nothing was on the agenda. He also said the next Sycamore City Council meeting, which would have been Jan. 20, will move to Jan. 21 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the council chambers at Sycamore Center.
Gregory said the City Council will begin the meeting by planning and discussing the fiscal 2021 budget.
“The early indication is at least some of the general fund side, we look like we’re in a pretty solid position,” he said.
Gregory also said that the 2020 Census’ new model will be like an online survey.
