Community gardens director receives Sustainable Ag grant

Dan Kenney of DeKalb County Community Gardens has been awarded a $2,160 grant from the North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program for the project, DeKalb County Community Gardens Sustainable Agriculture Summer Camp.

The camp will offer youth with and without developmental disabilities a chance to learn and practice sustainable agriculture methods and follow the food trail. The project will start in 2021 because of issues associated with the COVID-19 outbreak

This grant was awarded as part of NCR-SARE’s Youth Educator Program, which supports educators who seek toprovide programming on sustainable agriculture for youth.
