Coroner identifies man killed in crash Wednesday 31-year-old from Lake in the Hills

A 31-year-old man was killed in a car crash Wednesday evening in Lake in the Hills, the McHenry County coroner said Friday.

Jordan Bergmann of Lake in the Hills died of blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Coroner Michael Rein said Friday following an autopsy earlier in the day.

A toxicology report is pending, but that could take a while to get back as the laboratory that processes them is backed up due to a COVID-19 outbreak, Rein said.

The coroner’s office is working with the Lake in the Hills Police Department, which is investigating the cause of the crash, the agencies said.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department and Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday to the 1100 block of West Algonquin Road, which is near Pyott Road, where they found a pickup truck rolled over, according to the fire and police departments said Thursday.

The vehicle, a black Toyota Tacoma, was driving west when it lost control, struck a guardrail and flipped over, landing on its roof, the Lake in the Hills Police Department said in the Thursday release. No other vehicles were involved and only the driver, now identified as Bergmann, was in the pickup.
