Crystal Lake Central to perform musical ‘42nd Street’

Crystal Lake Central High School will perform Tony Award-winning musical “42nd Street” starting Thursday and running through the weekend.

A stage adaptation of the 1933 movie of the same name, “42nd Street” was nominated for eight Tony Awards, winning two of them, including Best Musical. It celebrates Broadway, Times Square and the magic of showbiz in Depression-era New York City.

About 100 Crystal Lake Central students will be involved in the production as part of the cast, pit and crew. The show will be directed by Kimberly Scherrer and feature the choreography of Chesney Lofgren.

The show will run at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday at Crystal Lake Central, 45 W. Franklin St.
