DeKalb Corn Fest road closures set

DeKALB – Some downtown DeKalb streets will close at 4 p.m. Thursday in preparation for Corn Fest, which runs Friday through Sunday.

The carnival will be located in the Glidden, Ellwood and Haish city lots, which are between Oak and Locust streets off Second and Third streets.

The carnival also will be in the parking lots of Finch Funeral Home, DeKalb Public Library and Frontier Communications. These parking lots will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and will remain closed until 7 a.m. Aug. 26 for carnival setup and take down.

Palmer Court between Second and Third streets will close at 10 a.m. Thursday and re-open at 9 a.m. Aug. 26.

Closures for 4 p.m. Thursday are:

• Lincoln Highway between First and Fourth streets

• Second and Third streets from the railroad tracks to Oak Street

• Locust Street between First and Third streets.

The Embrey parking lot, behind the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, between First and Second streets will close at 5 p.m. Thursday.

There will be signs posted by the city of DeKalb in advance as a reminder. Any vehicles in violation will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The city lots at Fourth and Grove and at Second and Grove streets will remain open throughout the festival.

There also will be street parking available on Locust Street on the east side of Fourth Street.
